The principle Peter originally came from an engineering background having trained as an Aricultural Engineer, after qualifying he entered the retail trade and eventually  attained position of Branch Manager selling motor,motor cycle,cycle parts and accessories.

Stocktaking and stock control was of course part of the discipline in this position

From this Peter entered the motor trade proper as firstly a Parts Manager, and progressed to other situations such as Marketing Manager, General Manager, Parts Director, and Company Secretary. These positions were in the main for large national companies and as such no equity was held, this prompted a move to self employment.

  In these positions he gained expertise in sales for the retail, trade,wholesale, and export markets. The posts also needed a knowledge and ability in stock control, stocktakes,purchasing,marketing, staff matters.accountancy, legislation, transfer of ownership, stock valuations or disposals. 

Early in this career path Peter returned to study and part time education,he attended manufacturers courses, evening classes, and industry training board courses and as a result passed examinations to the standard required to become a MEMBER of the INSTITUTE OF THE MOTOR INDUSTRY, Later he was granted a fellowship in this body (FIMI). For a time he served on the County Management Committee. 

Eventually Peter decided to branch out as self employed and as a result carried out a number of activities but as most of his time in industry had involved stocktaking and material handling he decided to follow that course. 

Membership of the Trade Valuers Institute and eventual granting of a Fellowship followed (FTVI). 

Peter was elected and  served on the National Managment Executive of that body several times over the years.

This varied experience has enabled Peter to appreciate the needs and problems faced by the smaller trader and also that of the larger multiple operation and bring the expertise of these many disciplines to stocktaking circles.

 The contacts and standards from the Trade Valuers Institute have been of paramount importance both in the area of shared knowledge and assistance but also a framework of standards such as the institutes Code of Practice which the company works too
